Updates from Team Bulb

Bulb is now a B Corp!

Makes sense: we believe in the power of business for good.

We're incredibly proud to announce that Bulb has become a certified B Corp! Certified B Corps are companies that use the power of business to solve social and environmental challenges and make the world a better place. Not only that, they've got a delightful logo you'll start seeing on the Bulb website soon.

However, our new certification is much more than a lovely logo. (It is lovely though isn't it?)

It stands for something that we believe in really passionately here at Bulb: that companies have a social and environmental responsibility over and above making a profit. We wrote about doing great work while being "good" a while back. It's key to what we're doing here at Bulb.

Being a B Corp means we've been through a rigorous process with the lovely people over at B Lab to make sure we meet the highest standards of social performance, environmental good and accountability.

And we thought the Ofgem licence form was long!

We spoke at length with the guys at B Lab to let them know about what we're up to at Bulb and to outline our vision for providing people with a choice of energy they haven't had before. A choice that's low cost, fast, reliable and of course renewable.

It's not only the renewable energy that we provide that gets us into the B Corp club. We also talked about how we treat our Bulb team members, told them that we're a proud Living Wage employer, and discussed our efforts to have a wider positive impact on society.

We're chuffed they've endorsed our mission and how we're going about it, and we can join all the other B Corps around the world who are using the power of markets to solve social and environmental problems.

What a community to be part of! Over 1700 companies in 50 countries, with 89 in the UK. It's a growing group of future-focused companies that together make up a global movement of people using business as a force for good.

Turns out things beginning with B are the way forward.
