A refresher on how to earn up to £50 for every person you switch to Bulb
Lots of people don't think about their energy much (we know, we can't believe it either). Referring friends to Bulb means they get a better deal, and so does the planet. Because we don't believe in contracts or tricky tariffs, they can carry on not thinking about their energy much, safe in the knowledge it's doing the world some good.
Referring a friend earns you up to £50 each when they switch. There are a few different ways to refer, so this article explains how it all works.
We give every Bulb member a unique referral link when they join. They look a little something like this:
You can refer people to Bulb by sharing your referral link. The person you send it to can click on your link, or type it into their browser like a web address. By using your link to sign up, it helps us keep track of who’s referred who.
You'll both get £50 credit when someone you know switches their gas and electricity over to us using your referral link. And if they switch just gas or just electricity, you'll both get £25.
If you know a business who could benefit from cheaper, greener energy, you can refer them, too. You'll each get £50 per business property that signs up to Bulb.
If you pay for your energy monthly, you'll see the referral credit in your Bulb account once the switch is complete. This usually takes 21 days. And you can keep track of the people you've referred, and the money you've earned, in your Bulb account.
If you pay for your energy by top-up (prepay), we'll send your referral credit via our partners at Transferwise. Once a new switch is complete (and 1 to 3 days after the new member tops up) you’ll get an email that says "Bulb wants to send you money." Doing a little celebration dance is optional, but then you'll need to enter your bank details securely before Transferwise can put your referral credit into your bank account.
Any friend of yours is a friend of ours, so there's no limit on the number of people you sign up, as long as they're brand new to Bulb. That said, nobody likes being spammed. Treat your referral code like you'd treat your phone number; share it with people you know, don't staple it to a lamppost or use it as confetti at your second cousin's wedding. Take a look at our full Terms and Conditions for details.
Sometimes a person you've referred may not be eligible for referral credit. This might happen if:
they didn't use your referral link when they signed up
they're already a Bulb member
the property they're moving into is already supplied by Bulb
they have already been a Bulb member the last 12 months
Lots of Bulb members use social media or messaging apps (like WhatsApp) to refer their friends and family to Bulb. We know gas and electricity aren't traditional conversation starters, so we've built a bank of Bulby templates to make referring on social media more fun.
We made two square ones and two portrait ones, which you can download as a zip file. Don't forget to add your link to the pink ones when you post.
You can now add stickers to your Instagram stories to make them stand out, too. Here's how:

Search Giphy for "bulbuk"
